CarMax vs IBAV…how do they compare?

About 60 or 70 CarMax lots have their own wholesale auctions. After your vehicle is out of your hands, what happens to it?

Carmax vs IBAV. Which one is the better choice for you?

CarMax primarily sells to neighborhood dealers that pay a fee to go to the auction. If a vehicle has over 130,000 miles or is over 10 years old, the offer you would get would go to auction. If a store doesn’t have an auction, those cars are shipped to an auction facility. Rarely are they kept outside the gates and if so, for only a short period of time. A car could have potentially been stolen from whichever dealer bought the car or if the dealer bought the car, it was left out on the back lot outside the gate temporarily to haul it away. So how do CarMax and IBAV compare and which one is the better choice for you?

CarMax will often make you an offer on anything. It does not even have to run. Their offer will reflect that, and it will be often be less than $500. They do offer a no hassle 7 day quote, but at trade in value only. With IBAV, we can often beat their voucher prices.

They will buy pretty much any car from you as mentioned on their website. With IBAV, we also purchase most running AND junk vehicles. In most cases we can offer a higher payout for your vehicle.

While CarMax will make you an offer on almost any vehicle running or not, they often will not be able to pick up the vehicle and it has to be taken to them. With IBAV, your vehicle can be picked up without you having to take it to us.

Selling a vehicle can be a timely and sometimes frustrating process and we want to be able to make the process easy for you and offer you as much as possible for your investment. We hope to do business with you and make the process as simple….and profitable….as possible!
